Markus Landgraf, born in Kitzbühel in Tyrol, started his musical education at the age of 8 with the recorder. Two years later he switched to the saxophone, which still is his instrument of choice. However his musical interests are broad and in his freetime he also enjoys playing the guitar, the piano, the ukulele, the flute and the clarinet.
After his muscial education in Tyrol his journey led him to Vienna, first to saxophonist MMag. Alfred Reiter, and afterwards to the „Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst“, where he became part of the class of professor Oto Vrhovnik. Along the way he also studied 4 semester of comparative literature and philosophy at the university of Vienna.
At the moment Markus is studying Konzertfach and IGP for classic saxophone with emphasis on jazz and popular music at the „Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien“.
He attended Masterclasses with renowned saxophonists such as Otis Murphy, Jean Yves Fourmeau, Peter Rohrsdorfer and Gerald Preinfalk.
In addition to his studies he regularly plays concerts, for example he played with the orchestra of the vienna state opera, the orchestra of the vienna volksoper, the mozarteum orchestra salzburg, the saxophone orchestra of the „Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst“ and in various chamber ensembles.
